A candidate forum will take place in Newtown, CT on Wednesday January 27, 2010 which will be the first time all of the candidates for this seat will be on the same stage together. I look forward to showing voters in the 5th District why our campaign has the best solutions to many of the problems we face, by simply applying good old common sense!

Keep in mind that since last year, our campaign theme of Common Sense For Connecticut has been central to our efforts to help give power back to the voter’s and away from special interests and party bosses. I have found it amusing, but encouraging, that many other campaigns and political groups in this state have tried to ‘market’ themselves the same way, including actually using our EXACT campaign slogan as of late…..see the picture from 11/7/09 at my announcement! Keep an eye out for candidates driving around in green pick up trucks next!

As I travel around the state, I have focused on talking to small business owners and their employees, while some of my opponents have tried to get the endorsement of every insider they can. This alone should tell voter’s about what group of people each of us will be representing in Washington, DC if elected. Small business owners are the backbone of our economy, and country, and are the people who will get our economy going again. In my opinion, and in the opinion of many people I speak to, the problems in our country have been caused by people more concerned with power than in doing what is right. (The insiders, career politicians, and party bosses!)

While many problems are tough to solve, others are quite simple. If people have the courage to lead, rather than wait until an idea or movement becomes popular and then try to jump in front as a leader, we can solve both.

I look forward to seeing many of you on the campaign trail, and as always if you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly at BillEvans@BillEvansForCongress.com
