1/28/10:Just Words, Just Speeches

After watching the State of the Union address, I couldn’t help but to think about the words of candidate Obama, versus the actions of President Obama.  My father used to tell me that people will judge you on your actions and not your words, but it is best that both match!  Many people will write what they think about what the President said last night and try to turn it into a political issue one way or another.  However, what I saw was a person who was reading words on a piece of paper(actually teleprompter) because he thought that it is what people wanted to hear in the wake of HIS losses in Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

If President Obama truly believed in what he said last night, he would not have waited until January 27, 2010 to make what virtually every American tells every pollster is the most important issue facing our country, his most important issue…..jobs!  Unfortunately through his actions of the past year, he has shown that he, and the Democrats in Congress, think that things like Cap and Trade, Secret Health care deals, etc. are the most important.

I believe 100%  that the speech last night would have been much different if not for some guy driving a green pickup truck in Massachusetts, and the grassroots supporters who believed in him when he was 30 points down in the polls.  However, I am willing to give President Obama the benefit of the doubt that he will pursue the policies regarding tax cuts and small businesses he spoke about last night, despite his record.  If he does, Republicans should be the first people in line to vote with him, including myself after our victory this November.  However, based on his actions I fear that these were only words in just another well written speech.
